When I think back to where I was last year at this time I am in total disbelief all that has happened. Even though 2020 was the year of staying home, A LOT happened while I hunkered down. For the purpose of this exercise I want to focus on what happened to me. This may come across as narcissistic, but at the end of the day reflecting back on the person I was and the person I have become is important to my growth. Much too often as woman we expected to take care of and look out for others before ourselves. Resulting in us putting our own identities to the side and never taking a moment to check in with how we are doing.
This Valentines Day I encourage you to write a love letter to yourself. Give yourself the love and respect you deserve for continuing to make it through this very tough time in history. Patting yourself on the back is not a futile exercise. It does not make you shallow or self-absorbed. By taking a moment to celebrate who you are, and maybe laugh at yourself as well, it shows you care about the person you are becoming.
Now, I imagine most bloggers would put fancy stationary and pens into this post as ideas of what to use when writing this letter. Honestly though I do not care what you use and I really do not want to share some aspirational stationary to make you feel like you are doing it wrong. A napkin, post-it note, or even your mirror will suffice. The point is to take a moment and give yourself the recognition you deserve for being you.
