Discovering new incredibly talented creatives is one my life’s biggest joys. Finding that designer who perfectly encapsulates everything I am looking for. A key focus for me is to support independent designers whose work is not featured on the larger retail sites. Giving a platform for these creatives to showcase their work, and their message. Here are my newest discoveries and the pieces I adore from each.
So Elly creates essential pieces from fabrics sourced from Italy, Japan and Korea. All items are made in New York in a women-owned and operated sewing shop. These sand chinos have an easy look to them that will take you from the weekend to the weekday.
Established in 2021, Only Essentials creates pieces from traceable New Zealand merino wool. Items are on pre-order basis reducing waste by avoiding producing too much from the start. All items come in a variety of colors, but this black turtleneck is what I am currently coveting.
Feners was established in 2007 as the answer to affordable, high quality footwear for women. The founder wanted to fill in the gap between high end pieces and lower end pieces that lacked the quality she desired. These brown suede boots look identical to a pair of The Row boots that I’ve been eyeing. Since they have a 100% suede upper they will be comfortable from the start.
A New York based women-owned clothing company based around the idea of French uniform dressing, with a dash of New York coolness. Ouisa makes six items that are made to order. My favorite piece is the ribbed mock neck that is offered in black and navy. This shirt could easily be paired with denim or wide leg trousers.
