Well this has been a very busy week. This past Tuesday morning I had this idea to donate my monthly subscription boxes to a charity when I saw my recent shipments from Partake Cookies and On the Go Jo coffee siting on my dining table. They had arrived a few days earlier and I still had not unpacked them because I didn’t need them right now. I felt so ridiculous having boxes of food in my house that were going unused. So I called the Salt Lake City Rescue Shelter and asked them if they needed these items. They put me in touch with their women’s shelter coordinator and within minutes I had redirected my monthly shipments to the shelter.
Thus, an idea was born. What I am most excited about is the fact is that this will benefit both charities and women and minority owned businesses. I used to work in the nonprofit field and I understand how overworked (and underpaid) people are in that industry. Which is why I fully expect it to take a few weeks to get the information I need for myself and others on what boxes are needed and who should they be sent to.
In the meantime, I wanted to share some subscription services from female and minority owned businesses that you could support right now.
Non-Perishable Foods:
I cannot speak highly enough of Partake Cookies. They are delicious, healthy, and the flavors are incredible. If you are you a coffee drinker then On the Go Jo monthly coffee subscription is perfect for you. Also, I bought this cinnamon syrup for use in coffee and cocktails and it’s the best.
I recently discovered Cure Crate and I am very interested in giving this monthly CBD box a go. At this point anything that will calm my nerves and make feel less anxious is high on my priority list. I really like the fact you can customize it each month to fit your needs.
This snack box is the perfect armchair travel item. It is a monthly shipment of snacks from around the world. I love being in another country and buying food items that I had never heard of. It gives such a great glimpse into that countries culture. Since we cannot travel then this Snack Voyage box is the perfect solution.
Children’s Books:
I absolutely love this monthly subscription box of children’s books that contains stories of children from a variety of backgrounds. It is called the Jambo Book Club and I cannot wait to find a charity to send this to each month.
Children’s books have come really far since I was little. I love the fact there are books now that discuss nontraditional family structures, strong female characters, and stories starring multicultural children. The Momo Book Club isends 2-4 books a month featuring these themes and it is certainly high on my list for future donations.
Beauty:
The Cocotique monthly beauty box allows you to both sign up for a monthly subscription, as well as purchase past boxes. All the items in the box are full size and you can purchase them directly from Cocotique if you like what you tried.
This subscription box from Femailer arrives 4 x year and each shipment is filled with seasonal items. I certainly change my beauty routine season-to-season so having a box sent to me with the appropriate items would be interesting.
