I have had a love/hate relationship with shorts for a very long time. But I love them because it means warm weather has arrived. I hate them because I can never find a pair that actually look good and do not make me immediately feel uncomfortable. I spent most of my twenties in a pair of oversized Billabong distressed jean shorts. Once I entered my thirties I realized that these shorts were not going to cut it anymore. Thus, I began my search for a pair of shorts that were tailored enough so that I look pulled together daily without sacrificing comfort.
Summer Shorts
I have tried on more shorts than I care to think about at this point. They were either way too long. Way too expensive. Or, made me feel like I was trying to be much more formal than I care to be during the hot summer months. I recently purchased two pairs that actually work. A pair from Cuyana and another pair from Almina Concept. I have included them below as well as other pairs that just might be the perfect solution to the great summer short hunt.
These shorts are made from a tencel/ polyester blend which means they are very soft and light weight. The tencel gives them a silky feel that I know will feel fantastic during the hot summer days.
Made from organic linen these shorts hit the mark for me on all levels. They look polished, but they are easy to wear. Plus, there is an elastic band in the back which adds to the ease of throwing these on first thing in the morning.
Asceno makes my absolute favorite linen pieces. Finding a pair of shorts in that perfect neutral beige that goes with everything is almost impossible. Oh, to find a pair not see through even more impossible! These just might be the perfect short…..
These shorts are crafted from summer tweed, a mix of cotton and linen. They look like the perfect polished, yet comfortable solution for summer shorts. There is a matching vest and I cannot imagine anything more chic than wearing that outfit all summer long.

These shorts are made from tencel which is the ultimate summer fabric. I recently purchased their tencel pants and they feel so silky against your skin.
